GROUND 2018

Gertrude Stein wrote that the only thing that changes from generation to generation is what people are looking at and that makes a composition. The computer screen and smartphone have become the site where much of our everyday lives are played out and in a sense has become the composition of our time. My slideshows videos are records of my interactions with the world and the inspiration and raw material for my artworks.

In 1925, Gertrude Stein wrote that the only thing that changes from generation to generation is what people are looking at and that makes a composition. Today, we are looking at the world through our phones and computer screens. In a sense, this is the composition of our time. My slideshows videos are records of what I am looking at and create a personal composition.
The Nahalat Benjamin textile market in Tel Aviv is a magical place where I find fabric remnants and stories for my artwork. This video was made together with Alon Kol. Tel Aviv, 2017

Democracy Says

In November 2022 Benjamin Netanyahu established an extreme right-wing government this is presently dismantling our democracy and transferring powers of the Supreme Court to themselves. Among the ministers in this government are criminals such as the infamous Itamar Ben Gvir. Weekly protests against this abomination began in January and quickly grew to hundreds of thousands in the streets and on the highways. Having participated in twenty weeks of these protests, I am now back in Canada where I live half the year. The protest and imminent danger to my county totally occupies my mind. This video is a tribute to my heroes who are peacefully and creatively fighting the fight for democracy. The protests are intensifying week to week and send a loud and clear message: we will not stand by while our democracy is dismantled.
